Mindful ways to be Merry

It may feel like the holidays are already in full swing, but today is still just the first Friday in December, which means we have a few more weeks of celebrations and festivities to enjoy. If you’re already feeling burned out from holiday shopping and errands, it is not too late to reevaluate how you’re …

30 Day Writing Challenge – Day 5

This is now a 30 Day Challenge! Day 5 Prompt: Adrenaline Rush When was the last time you felt an adrenaline rush? What did you do? What did you feel? How did time change? What was the thing that prompted the adrenaline rush?   I'm not typically a thrill-seeking person. My blood starts pumping when …

What we have, and what we want.

This weekend I decorated the house - quiet solitude to recover from the horrible week in Maine with the family. Margaret yelled, and cried, and caused issues at every point of the week. Mom covered for her - Steve yelled too. I'm glad to be home. So Sunday I puttered while Aaron snoozed away the …

Happy Valentine’s Day, to the love(s) of my life! 💗 Swipe to see our memories of love in 2018, 17, 16, 15 & 14! 💗 #valentinesday2019 #loveislove
The universe will alway deliver the messages I need, but first I must surrender and ask for guidance. • #divinefeminine #patience #depression #mentalhealth #motherearth #yogajourney

Serenity has become one of my favorite words since I started my love affair with @doterra oils. Serenity, Balance...sounds good, doesn’t it? • Everywhere I look these days, bloggers are pushing and selling oils, promoting their favorite ways to use, their favorite scents, their cleaning recipes. I have to be honest, I love watching this little niche, natural world blow up into something so accessible to the average person. People understand the science of these tools now, how they can actually help! • I also feel the need to share my more existential connection with oils, which is rooted in intention. Yes, Serenity oil helps me relax, unwind, calm down. It helps me find a center, and ground into my own mind, and it does that due to the chemical nature of the oil. But there’s magic in the moment I decide I need to feel those things, too. There’s no outside monitor that comes with your oils to say “hey, time to feel more serene.” Instead, I pause, and it is with intention that I decide, “ok, I need to shift my mindset right now.” • Oils are a tool, you hold the magic. • PC 📷 : @lisa.coe #mindfulness #essentialoils #intention #depressionrecovery #warrior #beawarriornotaworrier #balance #serenity
I’ve always been blessed by the presence of strong women. Don’t be surprised if I seem confident, it’s because I know what I’m doing. Don’t be taken off guard when I shamelessly say, “I don’t have time to care about that,” because my time and my attention are my most valuable assets...second only to the incredibly strong women in my world. • I live far away from most of my family, but this weekend I hosted my mom and grandmother at our little house in Pittsburgh. I love having a full house, mouths to feed, company for morning coffee, and familiar laughs alongside my own. Of all our attempts at a photo, this little selfie from dinner @thecommonerpgh was the best of all! Damn, I’ve got good genes. • #womensupportingwomen #threegenerations #loveyourself #strongwomen #feminineenergies #pittsburghblogger
It’s too cold outside to pause and see these little moments. This is from last week, on a perfect evening stroll with the dogs and my sweet husband. I’m sharing those to remind myself that this too shall pass, nicer nights and prettier skies are on their way. • If you need me, I’ll be home preparing for my mom and grandmother to get to town tomorrow night. I’ve got beds to make, groceries to organize, trash to take out, and I’m sure I won’t stop puttering until they’re finally here! I love to nest, to create space both physical and emotional for another person to enter our lives for a few days. Amidst all of our childhood road trips to grandma’s house, I never paused to imagine what it would be like to prepare my own house for a visit from her! • #itssocold #mywarriorproject #authenticity #nesting #homebody
Sometimes, reading is more of a practice than a hobby. I want to read, sure. But it takes some commitment to put down my phone, unplug, unwind, let go of my day, and just sit, and read, in silence. Especially after a day like today, it can be hard to shake the thoughts and feelings from work, to surrender to a world of whim and wonder. The practice is the process of getting there, being there is more of a hobby. • photo cred to @lisa.coe 📷 • #mywarriorproject #practice #reading #bookworm #infjwriter #infj #happinessfirst #light #authenticity #depression #depressionrecovery #Pittsburghblogger #mindfulnesswriter #mindfulness #mentalhealthblogger #pghblogger #mentalhealthmatters #beawarriornotaworrier
She’s my most reliable companion. #imnalamutt
Happy New Year 2019! • We ate dinner in the restaurant at the hotel we were married at tonight, and reminisced over our memories of that day. My only regret of our wedding day is that we didn’t spend more of it together. I would have helped you get dressed, and then we could have had a drink together, and laughed a little before things got a little more serious. But honestly nothing got too serious that day, I giggled from start to finish with you. • To those of you who treasure the idea of that moment when you walk down the aisle and your groom sees you for the first time - ugh, it’s overrated. Well, it was for me at least. I was more concerned with the logistics of not falling as I walked down the aisle and prepared to walk up a staircase while wearing six inch heels, a full veil, and a gown with a train, while carrying flowers. • Tonight I wore the same shoes, drank a few pretty cocktails and smiled at the man of my dreams over dinner. What more could I ask for? • #anniversary #nyewedding #nye #newyearsanniversary #2019
